South Devon Society’s Autumn Sale 2022

After some significant retirement dispersal sales earlier in the summer, a more modest entry of quality South Devons came to Worcester for the Society’s Autumn Show & Sale on 4th October.

Judge Peter Rowe whose Trewint herd from Menheniot, Liskeard, Cornwall is very well known amongst breeders, picked his Male Champion from J & S White Farms’ Broadwood herd – Broadwood Proper Job.  This well-structured, very mobile bull from Brampton Ash in Leicestershire is by Welland Valley Dynamic 6 and out of dam Broadwood Hilda 6, with a myostatin status of zero.

Reserve Male Champion was from Mr R Saunders, Malmesbury, Wiltshire – Boakley Cassius, a March 2021 born bull.  His sire Grove Brutus 151 was the National Show Champion of 2019 at the Royal Welsh, and his dam Mells Park Isadora was a former Female Champion at the Royal Bath & West.  The bull went on to sell for 3,500 gns to Mr M Reese, East End, Berkshire.

Reserve Female Champion was K V & M A Plain’s Foxhole Cherry 9, a two-year old in-calf heifer by Trewint Churchill, with Northill and Colcharton bloodlines.
